Herts Visual Arts are again holding their annual Big Art Fair at Hitchin Town Hall during the Hitchin Festival, and I will have a stand there, as I have for the past two years. The Big Art Fair is open to the public (free admittance) on Saturday 13th July (10am-6pm) and Sunday 14th July (10am-4pm). As always this will be an amazing collection of 2D and 3D art work by artists and artisan makers who are Herts Visual Arts members.

No tickets are needed and entry is Free of Charge on the Saturday and Sunday.

The Friday Preview Night is the official opening and sees the launch of the Open Studios brochure, as well as Big Art Fair Sponsors Choice Award certificates. With free drinks/nibbles, entry on Friday night…

Upcoming Exihibitions in June and July – Ayot Art Show, and The Big Art Fair

Ayot Art Show

Now in its 45th year, the 2019 Art Show is held from Saturday 15 to Monday 17 June with an exclusive preview evening on Friday 14 June.

Over the years the Show has gained a reputation for attracting an impressive and eclectic range of artists.

The Art Show takes place in the beautiful Ayot St Lawrence “New Church,” a Grade I listed, Greek-style Church, (locally known as the Palladian Church), which is a work of art in itself.

The Show is open from 10am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday and 11am to 2pm on Monday.  There will be a tea stall selling an excellent selection of home-made cakes, scones and…

Wynd Gallery – Artist’s Studio Spring Clean Show – starts Saturday 6th April!

For one week only, the Wynd Gallery in Letchworth is holding an Artist’s Studio Spring Clean Show and Sale, starting on Saturday 6th April until 13th April, and, as I am an active member of this gallery a collection of my old paintings and hand-made prints will be available at knock-down prices.

With at least 25 artist members, there will be a wide range of work available, and everything will be half price or more, so you are bound to get a bargain if you visit!

A successful exhibition!

Many thanks to all those who came to see our recent exhibition at the Wynd Gallery in Letchworth.

Myself and fellow artist, Caryl Beach, had a week long joint exhibition, titled ‘Thin Places’, which launched with a very successful Private View on 13th October and finished on Saturday 20th October.

The title of the exhibition was based on a concept that may be more familiar to our Celtic neighbours, of ‘thin’ places where the veil between the temporal and the spiritual worlds are tissue-thin, and in such places, we may be able to experience glimpses of the spiritual dimension.

Caryl and I both explore this concept, and what this means to us, in our work, always rooted in our experience of landscape, but touching on these shifts in perception, where mundanity gives way to mystery.

We are a co-operative gallery of 29 member artists, all local to Hertfordshire, and we are celebrating the fact that a year ago we first opened the doors to the public!

As well as a wide range of art, paintings, prints, jewellery, glass and ceramics, the exhibition includes unique hand-made postcards, for ‘sale’ for a suggested donation of £10, all proceeds in aid of the Garden House Hospice in Letchworth.
