I have really enjoyed making small paintings recently, and have created new ones in my ‘Elemental’ series and my ‘Journeys in Solitude’ series. Here is a taster, but to see the individual paintings please go to the gallery pages.

A selection of each of these series of paintings is available to buy in the Christmas exhibitions at both The Wynd Gallery in Letchworth and Art Van Go, in Knebworth.

Solo Exhibition at Art Van Go, Knebworth, November 2017

gillayre

Earlier this week I had the pleasure of putting up a solo show of my work from the last couple of years. The exhibition will be on throughout November, until 2nd December.

The work on exhibition represents 2 main bodies of work:

Herts Woods – was inspired by the abundance of local woodlands in Hertfordshire, and the development of the largest newly planted area of woodland in the UK, Heart Wood.

Coastal Marshlands – was inspired by frequent trips to the East Anglian coast, with its distinctive salt marshes.

Other work on show in this exhibition does not fit into any particular category but represents more recent work exploring my constant fascination with the natural world, through different mediums. Having worked in oils for many years I am currently exploring working with different acrylic paints and inks, to enable me to work quicker and more expressively.

If you are in the area why don’t you pop in and see for yourself – early Christmas present shopping? Here’s a taster:

Artists with different disciplines came together earlier this year with the idea of finding an affordable way to bring art to the general public.

I will be showing new work, so here is a sneak preview:

What next?

Jo Howe - Artist

I have finally resurfaced after another great show at Turn the Page in the beautiful and vibrant city of Norwich. Great crowds, beautiful works, interesting and thought provoking conversations and a chance to catch up with friends.

Silence – Unspoken words

Now looking forward,  it’s going to be a considerable time of change.

I begin a new adventure in September, studying for a second MA, this time in Arts Therapy. I have had an interest in this area for some considerable time and I am excited to be embarking on this new challenge. I am particularly looking forward  to being back into formal learning, where I know I will thrive with the diversity of a rich educational experience.

It will be a busy time… I am looking forward to another show with the collective PAPER SCISSORS STONE at Obsidian Art in Aylesbury in October 2017 as well as developing new…
