Karen Picton is an artist who uses earth as her primary painting medium to capture a fundamental character of the British Landscape through using only the materials from the ground in each particular place. Her paintings offer a reality of the land but also explore a visualisation of the mind with more abstract works that respond to atmosphere, experience or thought.
Karen Picton qualified with BA (Hons) Fine Art from The University of Hertfordshire in 2002 and a Post Graduate Certificate in Business and Digital Skills in 2006. She was a Fellow of Digswell Arts from 2010 – 2015. Karen exhibits regularly in Hertfordshire and London with galleries and through group exhibitions and art fairs, and was recently commissioned by Letchworth Heritage Foundation to make a lighting installation for their event ‘A Vision of Utopia’.
